Nanette Wallace’s gestural artwork is created as an emotional response to the world around her, with an especially deep connection to water, nature, the play of light, and the power of art to heal and lift us up. She approaches her work with an emphasis on experimentation and intuition, allowing the spontaneous nature of the medium, most notably the monotype, to guide her.
Nanette creates her monotypes and paintings from her home studio located in Portland, Oregon, USA. She received her BFA with a focus on printmaking and figure drawing from Oregon State University, where she was awarded the prestigious Norma Siebert Printmaking Scholarship. Her career path also includes working as a graphic artist, illustrator, and letterpress printer. She is an award winning artist, featured widely in solo, invitational, and juried exhibitions, as well as private and public collections. Nanette has also been featured in print publications, nationally and internationally, including in books sold at the Tate Museum in the UK, and the Louvre in Paris.
